NEWBORN

SHOOT INFORMATION:

It is best to try and keep baby awake for 2 hours before the shoot begins. Playing with or reading to baby or giving them a bath can help to keep them awake but if this isn’t possible don’t stress! We want you to have as much of a stress free experience as possible.

It is best to plan to feed baby right before leaving the house (if you live nearby) or upon arrival so that they will be content and sleepy for the shoot.

Please make sure any band-aids and ankle tags from the hospital have been removed ahead of time.

It is best to wash baby's hair the evening before so it looks light and fluffy. If they are not having baths yet due to the belly button still being attached try to give just baby's hair a wash over the sink.

On the day of the shoot please dress baby in just one layer (such as a sleepsuit) and use a blanket for the car journey if needed. If baby is sleeping upon arrival the less layers to remove from baby the easier it will be to transition them to the beanbag without disturbing them.

Forget Me K&ot Photography doesn’t currently offer nude baby photos – we can photograph in a special outfit, wrap or nappy (examples can be seen on the website at: www.forget-me-knotphotography.co.uk/newborn

If you would like any family pictures please let us know ahead of time and how many people you’d like involved. If everyone can please wear plain clothing (no writing/logos), preferably in light colours (white, tan, beige, light blue etc,.). *These may need to be done sitting and we may not be able to photograph more than 4 persons at a time due to the limitations of the studio size.

For sleepy posed photos it is ideal that baby is under 12 days old. After this they may be more alert in their photos but we will do our best to get some ‘sleepy’ poses.

We ask that you keep in arms length of the baby during all beanbag, bucket or crate poses (though we weigh down buckets and crates) to ensure their safety.

What to Bring:

If your baby uses a pacifier please bring this with you as it can be a handy tool to help settle them if they get fussy.

We have some props and wraps on hand but if there is a special outfit you’d like baby photographed in please let us know ahead of time. If they can come to the shoot already in that outfit that would be great! You may want to put a bib on over the outfit just in case of any spit-ups on the way.

Please bring water and a snack for yourself and any children coming to the shoot as newborn shoots can take a bit of time!

If siblings are coming, bring some entertainment for them. Don’t forget some bribing material for cuddly sibling shots!

If you have discussed family shots please bring an extra change of clothes for yourself in case of any spit-up or nappy accidents!

Bring everything for changing and feeding the baby and a blanket to keep them warm. Muslins are also very handy!

Parking:

There is ample roadside parking outside of the home studio and a small car park 30 feet down the road which can be used free of charge.

COVID 19:

We will scan yours and baby’s temperature (and any accompanying family) upon arrival. Please try to keep family members to a minimum wherever possible. Try not to overdress baby as they tend to run warm and are often dressed in too many layers which can result in them running a temperature. If a temperature is detected the shoot will need to be rescheduled.

The photographer has a mask and shield which will be worn during the shoot as a precaution.

Forget Me K&ot Photography are not liable for any infection of COVID19.

CAKE SMASH

SESSION INFORMATION:

We ask that you bring your own cake and that it be a round cake between 8 – 12 inches preferably in cream or white. If it is a cake with coloured icing we ask that it is a very pale colour so as to reduce the risk of staining the vinyl backdrops. Please specify the kind of cake and any decoration ahead of time. *Forget Me K&ot Photography are not liable for any adverse effects, reactions or allergies to the cake.

We have rustic accents and bunting in hessian, pink or blue. If you have a different kind of theme/decorations in mind please discuss these ahead of time – we may be able to accommodate your own decorations if you wanted to bring some with you.

We begin the session with some portrait shots against the background (without the cake), we then will take some shots of the child eating/playing with their cake and then finish with some tin bathtub shots (we don’t use water in the tin bath so we ask that parent give the child a wipe down with wet wipes while the backdrop is cleaned and the ‘bath’ prepared).
